BCMGA Policies & Procedures + Bylaws

Welcome to the Big Country Master Gardener Association governance hub. This page provides quick access to our official documents and guidelines that keep our chapter strong, transparent, and consistent.

Policies & Procedures (Operating Handbook)

Our Policies & Procedures (sometimes called the Operating Handbook) describe how our chapter functions day-to-day. They include details on membership, meetings, officer responsibilities, committees, finances, project approvals, and codes of conduct.

Below is a link for the Big Country Master Gardeners Association Bylaws adopted in September of 2017.

BCMGA Signed Bylaws (click here)

Highlights include:

  • How to propose and approve new projects

  • Officer roles and election timelines

  • Financial procedures and reimbursements

  • Meetings, quorum, and voting requirements

  • Code of Conduct and grievance process

Association Bylaws

The Bylaws are our legally adopted governing rules. They define the framework for membership, officers, committees, meetings, and how amendments are made.

Below is a link to access a copy of the Policies and Procedure Manual – Revised and Adopted –  September 19, 2017.

Highlights include:

  • Membership categories and dues

  • Officers and their terms of service

  • Committee structure

  • Quorum and voting rules

  • Procedures for amendments

What’s the Difference?

  • Bylaws are the governing rules approved by the membership.

  • Policies & Procedures are the practical “how-to” guidelines that explain how we carry out the bylaws in daily operations.

If the two ever conflict, the Bylaws take precedence.
